The house shook, then there was rolling thunder, which lasted a number of seconds. People in Baltimore are still shaken up after a cargo ship crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge, causing it to collapse. Six construction workers are now presumed dead. Dive teams, search and rescue boats, and more resources are back in the river this morning as they look to recover the victims.

Fox 43’s S. Williams joins us live in Baltimore with more on the impact this tragedy is having on their community. S. Williams, we are Maryland tough, Baltimore strong. That is the message Governor Westmore is trying to convey to people who are still trying to wrap their heads around this collapse that happened early Tuesday morning.
Now, what we know so far is that a number of resources have been dispatched to bring home the bodies of those six construction workers. And since the very beginning of the investigation, the governor, mayor, and NTSB said their number one priority has been to get them out of the water and to their loved ones.
This has now turned from a rescue to a recovery effort. And although the Maryland officials have not released the names of the victims, the regional consuls of El Salvador, Mexico, as well as Guatemala confirmed that their nationals are among the men who are missing.
“Our people are involved. It was a crew who was repairing parts of the, I think, potholes, yes, on the bridge. And they’re the ones who are going to build the bridge again. The Latinos, they were fathers and brothers, they were cousins, they were sons.”
And again, the names of the victims have not yet been released. Now, last night, the search and rescue efforts were suspended.
But starting today at 6 a.m., it’s about 6:15 right now, the dive teams will be back in the river trying to recover those bodies. So far, we’ve seen at least three or four police cars go by here on the bridge. But we’ll keep you updated with more information as it comes out. For now, in Baltimore, S. Williams, Fox 43 News.
